Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was a Pasadena, California native. At the age of three, she left California and young, her family moved to America. Summer went to American and British schools in the midst of her family living abroad. She returned to Pasadena in the days before her 14th birthday. Summer was only five years old when she fell in love with acting and enrolled in her first acting class. Nine months later, she signed with an agent and an agent and started to pursue her goal full-time. She is currently working towards her college degree in her free time. The actress was named one of the "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007). Nominated for Best Actress – Spirit Award. Bishil started taking acting classes when she was 14 years old. Within one year, she had been signed to a contract with an agency and manager. Bishil's first performance was on the brief-lived Nickelodeon show Just for Kicks, followed by appearances on other children's shows.Bishil's most memorable performance was as the lead character in Alan Ball's film Towelhead in 2007, a film adaptation of the novel of the same name. Dana Stevens, a Slate critic, stated that "Her performance in a movie that for all its good intentions, is completely fake somewhat embarrassing, as if it were an extended PSA concerning inappropriate touching is the truthful thing." Bob Strauss, who writes for various Los Angeles newspapers, states that Bishil, "...is one of the best natural actresses in film to appear over the last few years." In a September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil who is a "...newcomer, gives an impressive and sassy performance in the role of Jasira. In 2009 she filmed Wayne Kramer's Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her performance. She was chosen to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan’s 2010 film The Last Airbender. This was to be the primary storyline of the planned but never made sequel.
